Window blinds with flat, horizontal slats are called venetian blinds. They were developed as we know them in 1794. venetian blinds received the name venetian blinds because they originally came from Venice, Italy. It replaced or were used instead of fabric curtains or shutters.

They are durable and more cost effective to have professionally cleaned.

Aluminium venetian blinds are popular for all areas of the home but they also are suited to environments with lots of steam and humidity such as bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens.

Custom made venetian blinds are available in a range of materials.

The most common materials for venetian blinds are aluminium, wood and PVC. Aluminium blinds and PVC blinds are ideal for rooms with humid atmospheres, such as kitchens and bathrooms, as they are less liable to warp and twist like natural wooden blinds

Residual water from hot showers can pool on your venetian slat, so timber is not the best option: it’s moisture absorbent and that can cause the slats to buckle. A nice durable material will handle the heat and make cleaning easy. We recommend aluminium or PVC

They are very versatile and can be used in almost any spaces. While they add great style into living areas, they are suitable even for bathrooms and kitchens as they are easy to maintain.

They allow you to control the light and your privacy better, whilst with curtains you can either have them open or closed. Also, depending on the material of the curtain and area to be covered, venetian blinds could be more cost effective as window coverings.

A key difference between the three is price. Aluminium venetian blinds are the easiest on the pocket while wooden blinds are most expensive of the three. Aluminium blinds are great for high moisture areas. Wooden blinds tend to have good aesthetics. Wooden look venetian blinds try to provide similar aesthetics to wood and can be matched to your home décor. They can even be used in wet areas. They are very popular and as stylish as wooden blinds while being more robust also.
